John Benson Sebastian (born March 17, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter and musician who founded the rock band the Lovin' Spoonful. He made an impromptu appearance at the Woodstock festival in 1969 [1] and scored a U.S. No. 1 hit in 1976 with " Welcome Back ."
John was the co-founder of the Lovin’ Spoonful, often referred to as the American Beatles, who scored an incredible seven huge hits from 1965 to 1969, including “Daydream,” “Summer in the City,” and “Do You Believe in Magic.”
John Sebastian is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, harmonicist, and autoharpist. He is best know as the founder of the Lovin’ Spoonful and his impromptu performance at the Woodstock festival in 1969. His new album is out now.

The Lovin' Spoonful is an American folk-rock band formed in Greenwich Village, New York City, in 1964. The band was among the most popular groups in the United States for a short period in the mid-1960s and their music and image influenced many of the contemporary rock acts of their era.
