Neil Percival Young OC OM (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian and American singer and songwriter. After embarking on a music career in Winnipeg in the 1960s, Young moved to Los Angeles, joining the folk-rock group Buffalo Springfield.
The discography and filmography of Neil Young contains both albums and films produced by Young. Through his career most of Young's work has been recorded for and distributed by Reprise Records, a company owned by Warner Bros. Records since 1963 and now part of the Warner Music Group.
Neil Young wurde am 12. November 1945 in Toronto, Kanada, geboren. Sein Vater, Scott Young, war Schriftsteller und wurde später ein bekannter kanadischer Radio- und Zeitungsjournalist. Seine Mutter, Edna Ragland Young, stand ihrem Mann während dieser Zeit unterstützend zur Seite. Mit vier Jahren zog seine Familie nach Omemee in Ontario.
Harvest ist des Country-, Folk- und Rocksängers Neil Young viertes und zugleich erfolgreichstes Soloalbum. 1972, im Jahr seiner Veröffentlichung, war es das meistverkaufte Album in den USA. Sowohl in den dortigen Billboard 200 als auch in den englischen und kanadischen Charts eroberte es sofort Platz 1.
