Instrument (s) Saxophone. Years active. 1932–1967. Charles Daly Barnet (October 26, 1913 – September 4, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. [1] His major recordings were "Skyliner", "Cherokee", "The Wrong Idea", "Scotch and Soda", "In a Mizz", and "Southland Shuffle".
In Jazzkreisen bekannt wurde er 1932 als Leiter einer kommerziellen Tanzband im Paramount Hotel in New York. 1933 stellte er seine erste bedeutende Band vor, in der einige später bedeutende Musiker spielten, Eddie Sauter und Tutti Camarata. In dieser Zeit fungierte Barnet auch als Sänger.
