Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla, also known as Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla, was built to serve as the centrepiece venue of the 1999 IAAF Athletics World Championships. It also formed part of Seville’s failed bids for the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.
