Richard Alan Nielsen (born December 22, 1948) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist, primary songwriter, and leader of the rock band Cheap Trick. He is well-known for his numerous custom-made guitars from Hamer Guitars , including his famous five-neck guitar .
Seit 2010 spielt Rick Nielsens Sohn Daxx Nielsen Schlagzeug bei Cheap Trick. Der langjährige Drummer Bun E. Carlos blieb der Band jedoch verbunden und hat sie seitdem bei verschiedenen einmaligen Gelegenheiten auch wieder begleitet.
6. Jan. 2024 · Seine Songwriter-Qualitäten bewies er nicht nur bei seiner Stamm-Band, auch die House of Lords oder Rick Derringer nahmen von ihm geschriebene Lieder auf. Bereits am 22. Dezember 2023 ist Rick Nielsen 75 Jahre alt geworden.
